The West Hartford Babe Ruth League is a member of the Central Connecticut Babe Ruth League and is chartered by the National Babe Ruth League, Inc, the largest teenage baseball program for youth, located in Trenton, New Jersey. It functions under the auspices of the West Hartford All-Sports Council and in conjunction with the West Hartford Amateur Baseball Association.
The West Hartford Babe Ruth League has a team-centric, family-first, focus. The goal is to provide all players with an opportunity to play high quality, competitive, baseball without having to sacrifice vacations and other summer activities. All 13, 14, and 15 year old boys and girls are invited to register to play Babe Ruth baseball.
There are no tryouts and there are no cuts. Teams are formed at the conclusion of the Alumni and High School seasons with games beginning on or around June 1st. The regular season is done by the end of June. It is followed by a short playoff which is scheduled to end with a Championship Game on or around July 7th.
We work to develop individual and team baseball skills by playing the game. We play a lot of games and have few, if any, practices. Coaches and league officials work to develop baseball skills using hands-on, in-game, experience.
The league treats each player as a unique and valued member of their team. An emphasis is placed on camaraderie and sportsmanship. Players are expected to develop understanding of and respect for the rules; develop control over their emotions and speech; display courage in defeat, tolerance and modesty in victory; and to function as a supportive teammate.
